1. What is Dudes With Dogs?
Dudes With Dogs is the original, diverse, inclusive, and enthusiastic global community of dog lovers.  ^

2. Why was it created?
Dogs mean the world to us. They're our kids and best friends. But even more special is the equalizing effect they have on us socially. Have you noticed how easy it is to strike up a conversation when your dog's around? Dudes With Dogs was created to harness some of that love and inclusion that dogs teach us to have for one another.  ^

3. What do you do?
Mostly we share “delfies” (selfies with your dog) but also dog ownership advice, news, and other content. Our community is a place to share our lives and meet other DWDs in an authentic environment. Please keep in mind that we're a real community, not a photo fan page. We highly encourage you to post your own content, rather than googled photos, or other content shared from the Internet.  ^

4. Where can I find you online?
Currently, our platform is primarily Facebook but we also have a growing presence on Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr.  ^

5. Do you get together in real life?
In some locations we have dog park meetups, hikes, volunteer opportunities, and beach excursions. Events happen on our local pages, which are created after local page owners have been identified. If you know there are a number of DWDs in your area and you'd like to help plan and attend monthly meetups, please let us know!

6. Are women allowed in the group?
Yes! Although we were originally conceived as a social group for gay men with dogs, we are all about inclusion. Everyone is welcome, dudes or dudettes, gay, straight, or otherwise. You don’t even have to have a dog. Just love them as much as we do, and be a genuine friend of our community.  ^

7. Can I invite my friends?
Of course! As DWD gets bigger, it gets better. Inviting others is easy! On a phone, just touch Add Members. On a computer, type friends' names into the +Add People to Group field in the right column.  ^

8. Can I post whatever I want?
Yes and no. We are a dog lovers group, so keep it dog-related. And though we don’t typically limit conversations, we do limit imagery. No sexual content and no animal abuse photos. Your posts may be seen by tens of thousands of people! Be responsible for the content and energy you put into the group.  ^

9. Do you have guidelines for behavior?
We find that adhering to a few rules of conduct makes the DWD experience better for everyone. In fact, your presence in the group signifies your agreement to follow the Drools.  ^

10. Do you allow posts about animal abuse?
Not typically. We are a dog lovers group. Sharing animal abuse posts is not productive, upsets our community, and typically results in bickering and disrespect. If for some reason you feel very strongly about posting about abuse, check yourself first or ask an admin.  ^

11. What’s with all the shirtless photos?
First, it's actually kind of a natural occurrence. Members might be outside in the sun with their dog or lounging at home on their bed. Although there will always be a few attention seekers, we find that the perception of a high number of shirtless photos has more to do with the fact that Facebook shows highly liked posts more often.  ^

12. What kind of posts cause the most controversy?
Posts that cause the most controversy include subjects such as breed discrimination, animal training, pit bulls, crating, home breeding, emotional support animals, and many more. Think before you talk. We are a very large community and our members have differing values and opinions on everything. If you really want to post a controversial topic, make sure to take full responsibility for monitoring your post including managing the conversation, allowing differing opinions, and being willing to delete it if people become disrespectful.  ^

13. How do I report a post?
If you see a post that isn’t allowed in the group, please notify an admin by using the Report to Admin function, available from within the group only (not your news feed). Posts that are not allowed include political posts, unapproved advertisements, public shaming of another member, images containing nudity or animal abuse, jokes at another's expense, personal solicitations, and non-specific complaints. Please note that the Report to Admin function goes to our admin team, not Facebook. We typically prefer you report to us rather than to Facebook, unless the post is criminal in nature, against Facebook policy, or unrelated to DWD.  ^

14. How do you feel about adopting vs. buying?
Dudes With Dogs believes there is no one correct way to select, own, or care for a dog. Many of our members find it important to adopt their dogs while others are breed enthusiasts, and own, handle, or show purebred dogs. There's nothing wrong with either approach. However, we've found that most people these days don't care so much whether they have a pure or mixed-breed dog. If you don't have your heart set on a specific breed, we always highly encourage starting your search at a shelter or with a rescue organization. Most importantly, respect others' choices, even if it is not something you would do.  ^

15. Who's in charge?
We have a very active and busy group of admins that manage the group based on our Founder’s direction. The admin team includes Jim Stovall (lead), Jerry Dowdy, Wally Schwarz, Jeff Love, Mark Weinstein, Jeffrey Naranjo, Robert Litvak, and Stefan Råghammar. Our founder is Chris Rolczynski.  ^

16. Can I post my GoFundMe (or other crowdfunding) campaign?
No. This isn’t because we aren’t compassionate people. It’s because we do not have the resources to vet every crowdfunding campaign to make sure our members are not being scammed. Additionally, the reliance on these campaigns by some members sets a terrible example for the group. Dudes With Dogs strongly encourages responsible dog ownership, including having a solid financial plan in place for when accidents happen or your dog gets sick. Setting money aside each month is a plan. Carrying pet insurance is a plan. An emergency crowdfunding campaign is not.  ^

17. Do you recommend pet insurance?
Absolutely. Most people have difficulty setting aside money for their dog’s care and then when an accident happens or their dog get’s sick, they drain their bank account or run up their credit cards or worse. Protect your pet and yourself. Get 10% off from our primary pet insurance partner or check out our alternate carriers.  ^

18. Dudes With Dogs is taking over my Facebook. How do I stop it without leaving the group?
We are a very high volume group and you should expect your news feed to change... for the better! Most people like seeing more dogs. If it's too much for you, check out our handy guide for managing your news feeds and notifications without having to leave the group.  ^

19. How do I get featured on your Instagram?
We typically hand-select user-submitted photos from our community and then edit, brand, and feature them on Instagram and elsewhere. If you have a photo you think might fit our brand, learn what we look for and submit a photo.  ^

20. How do I partner with you?
We've worked with a number of distinguished companies and organizations. Have an idea for an event? What to work with us on something? Contact us to discuss your idea.  ^

21. Can I advertise in the group?
Yes, if you sponsor posts. DWD is primarily an ad-free group but we do have programs allowing advertisers to sponsor posts for as little as just $25 or even "hijack" the cover photos for maximum exposure. Though you may technically be able to slip your unapproved ad into the feed, it will definitely get you attention and not in the way you'd hoped. Members are likely to report your unapproved ad to our admin team, your post will be deleted, and you may be removed from the group. Just support the community we've built and we are happy to support you back.  ^

22. Do you own the trademark Dudes With Dogs?
We sure do! Dudes With Dogs® and the DWD "Dudley" logo are United States registered trademarks (USPTO #4831932 & #4868372).  ^

23. Why do you capitalize the W?
Because we think it’s key to who we are.  ^

24. I want to write a story about you. How should I start?
Once upon a time, there was a dog-lover who wished there was a place he could share his delfies. So he created one. For more info, check our Press page.  ^

25. I love your logo. Where can I get a t-shirt?
Right here!  ^
